[Saba Sports News] Aston Martin provided their first safety car for the Formula 1 season in 2021. That year marked the brand’s return to the sport as a manufacturer after 61 years. Fast forward to 2024, the latest safety car Vantage has increased power and torque by 30% and 15% respectively compared to its predecessor, giving Bernd Maylander—who has 24 years of experience driving F1 safety cars—665 PS and 800 Nm of power, allowing him to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. When discussing his collaboration with Aston Martin, Maylander stated that these cars are fantastic and that the brand has a long history behind it. He pointed out that while the old Vantage was a sports car, the new Vantage feels even more sporty. It features a new design with different suspension systems, stronger brakes, and a more powerful engine. Maylander described driving the 2024 Vantage as feeling like James Bond. However, he noted that you never win races or receive checkered flags in this role; sometimes you are even not allowed to drive fast.
