[Saba Sports News] The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a post-AGM workshop for state associations to address various financial issues. The workshop, set for September 25 in Goa, will primarily focus on GST implications for ticket sales and avoiding double taxation.
The workshop agenda includes discussions on accounting practices, funds distribution, and credits for TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) and interest. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has emphasized the importance of state associations’ active participation in finding solutions to these financial and regulatory matters.
The GST on ticket sales discussion will examine the applicability of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on ticket sales, particularly relevant for the upcoming World Cup matches hosted by ten state associations. State associations regularly host events like the IPL and international games, making this matter significant.
Other agenda items include discussions on accounting practices to ensure transparent fund sourcing and utilization, streamlining funds distribution between the BCCI and state associations, and providing credit for TDS and interest under the Vivad se Viswas Scheme 2020, aimed at resolving pending contractual disputes involving the government.
