[Saba Sports News] La Liga giants Barcelona have officially announced that German coach Hans-Dieter Flick will become the new coach of Barcelona. He has signed a two-year contract with an annual salary of 3 million euros. This news immediately attracted attention from the public. Many fans believe that Barcelona’s price is too low. The new Barcelona coach’s annual salary is only one-fourth of former Barcelona coach Xavi’s. It is reported that Xavi gave up his salary of 11 to 12 million euros last year and only received back the 2.5 million euros he paid out of his own pocket to terminate the contract with Barcelona. Flick’s annual salary is 3 million euros, with a Champions League championship bonus of 1 million euros and a La Liga championship bonus of 750,000 euros. This is considered too low for a coach who has achieved such success. Flick previously coached Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, where the team performed exceptionally well under his leadership. Flick led Bayern to a record of 70 wins, 8 draws, and 8 losses in 86 games, winning important championships such as the Champions League, Club World Cup, Bundesliga, German Cup, European Super Cup, and German Super Cup. After leaving Bayern, he went on to coach the German national team. However, his performance leading the national team was significantly weaker than leading a club, and he was eventually fired.
