Chinese badminton player Zheng Siwei recently shared a family photo on social
media, reflecting on his journey in 2023 and expressing his New Year’s wish. At
26 years old, Zheng Siwei can be considered a winner in life. He has achieved
success as a world champion, won a gold medal at the Asian Games, and has a
beautiful wife and a lovely son. During an exclusive interview with the
Badminton World Federation, Zheng Siwei and his mixed doubles partner Huang
Yaqiong expressed their desire to have a second child in the coming year. In
the 2023 season, Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong were undisputed champions in the
mixed doubles category. They secured victories in three super 1000-level
championships, including the Malaysian Badminton Open, the All England
Badminton Open, and the Indonesian Badminton Open. They also claimed the title
of world badminton champions in mixed doubles at the World Tour Finals.
Throughout the year, the duo firmly held the top position in the mixed doubles
world rankings. In the 2023 season, Zheng Siwei earned a total of $342,000 in
prize money, placing ninth on the Badminton World Federation’s annual bonus
list alongside Huang Yaqiong. Since Zheng Siwei is one of the few active
national players who has become a parent, his son has become a favorite among
the national team members.
