[Saba Sports News] The face of Pakistan cricket, Babar Azam, who is also the captain of his team, came to India for the very first time and received immense love from Indian fans from the moment the Pakistan team landed at the Hyderabad airport.
Pakistan cricket team came to India after seven years to play in the ODI World Cup 2023 and received an enthusiastic reception from the Indian crowd wherever they went.
The Men in Green started their World Cup campaign with a win against the Netherlands as they defeated the Dutch team by a margin of 81 runs. Batting first, Pakistan got all out for 286 runs. While chasing, the Netherlands showed some fight but did not go anywhere near the finish line and were dismissed for a total of 205 runs.
Babar failed to leave an impression with the bat, scoring just five runs in his first international innings played in India. But it did not stop his fans from cheering for him.
While fielding, Babar received a huge cheer from his fans, who shouted his name from the stands. Babar also noticed his gesture and acknowledged his supporters, putting a hand around his ear.
In the post-match presentation as well, he thanked his fans, who came in large numbers to support him in the ground and said:
“The way Hyderabad supports us, we are very happy. Our team is enjoying the hospitality. Pretty satisfied, credit to the bowlers, the way started well and the way we took wickets in the middle overs. We lost three wickets, the way Rizwan and Saud batted put pressure on the Netherlands. Saud built his innings and played well. He has improved a lot. Our bowlers bowled very well, we stuck to our plans, Haris bowled quick and took wickets.”
Pakistan will remain in Hyderabad as their next clash is also scheduled at the same venue. Babar and Co. will lock horns with Sri Lanka on October 10.
