[Saba Sports News] The ACC U19 Asia Cup currently underway in Dubai is showcasing emerging cricket talents from eight teams: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Japan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and UAE. In a pivotal match on December 10, Pakistan’s U19 team outclassed India’s U19, largely due to Azan Awais’ impressive century. Azan scored 105 not out off 130 balls, guiding Pakistan to an eight-wicket victory over India, chasing down 260 runs with 18 balls remaining.
Azan, who was named Player of the Match, later discussed the game with teammate Shahzaib Khan, who contributed a crucial 63 runs. Azan highlighted the importance of their 110-run partnership following Shamyl Hussain’s early dismissal. He also emphasized the subsequent 125-run unbeaten stand with captain Saad Baig, who scored a brisk 68 off 51 balls.
Reflecting on his performance, Azan said in a video on Pakistan Cricket’s Twitter, “I played a decent knock against India. It was a pressure game with constant shifts in momentum. The partnerships with Shahzaib and Saad were key. We built our innings step by step, which made our victory easier.”
Awais also mentioned his strategy against the Indian spinners, stating, “I was excited for the match. With conditions favoring pacers, I focused on attacking the spinners and exploiting any bad deliveries.”
Pakistan’s U19 team is now gearing up for their next game against Afghanistan U19, scheduled for December 13 at the ICC Academy in Dubai.
