[Saba Sports News] On November 28, the Badminton World Federation
released the latest world rankings. In the men’s singles category, Danish
badminton player Viktor Axelsen claimed the top spot with 105,655 points.
Remarkably, Axelsen has held this position for an impressive 104 consecutive
weeks, equivalent to two years. Surpassing the elusive 10W+ points mark,
Axelsen maintains a considerable lead over the second-ranked player, Indonesian
Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who has 86,031 points, creating a gap of nearly
20,000 points. Axelsen’s consistent dominance at the 100,000-point level has
earned him the media nickname of “Terror Dragon,” highlighting his
formidable strength. Axelsen’s achievements include winning two prestigious
competitions, the Olympic Games and the World Championships, as well as
securing victories in three major open championships: the All England Open, China
Open and Indonesia Open. He has also claimed the annual finals championship
title. These accomplishments set Axelsen apart from his competitors, surpassing
the likes of Taufik Hidayat, Lin Dan, and Chen Long. At the age of 30, Axelsen
is still in his prime athletic years, leading fans to speculate about the
duration of his reign in the men’s singles category.
