[Saba Sports News] The Asian Badminton
Championships have been awarded to Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, as the host
city for the 2024-2025 edition. This decision was approved by the Asian
Badminton Federation. The Asian Badminton Championships is recognized as the
highest level badminton event in Asia and holds the distinction of being a
Super 1000 level tournament sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
Wuhan, China successfully hosted the event in 2019. The 2024 Asian Badminton
Championships are scheduled to take place from April 9th to 14th and will serve
as the final qualification tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Top players
from Asia consider this event of great importance. Ningbo City has previously
hosted the National Badminton Individual Championships in 2023, gaining
valuable experience in hosting competitions. The city achieved record-high
spectator numbers and ticket revenue during that event, receiving praise from
the international community. Ningbo has a vibrant badminton culture and has
produced notable badminton world champions such as Liu Jianjun, Zhou Haodong,
and Wang Chang. In the latest rankings from the Badminton World Federation,
Wang Chang and Liang Weikeng claimed the top spot in the men’s doubles category
for the first time.
