[Saba Sports News] India and Bangladesh are playing their final Super Four match in the Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo. India, having already secured their spot in the final with victories over Pakistan and Sri Lanka, chose to bowl after winning the toss. Bangladesh, however, had been eliminated after losses to those two teams.
Despite a 101-run partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy that revived Bangladesh from a precarious position of 59/4, they lost momentum by losing two quick wickets. Ravindra Jadeja claimed the crucial sixth wicket by trapping Shamim Hossain leg-before-wicket. Shamim challenged the decision, but the third umpire upheld the on-field call, giving Jadeja his 200th ODI wicket, joining a select group of Indian bowlers to achieve this milestone.
Ravindra Jadeja now stands alongside Kapil Dev in having both 200 ODI wickets and 200-plus runs to his name. India chose to rest five key players – Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj – for this match to keep them fresh for the upcoming Asia Cup final. Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, and Prasidh Krishna were included in the playing XI.
