[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns formed a close bond over their four seasons with the Timberwolves, making Towns’ trade to the Knicks a big surprise for Edwards.
At NBA Media Day, Edwards shared his thoughts on the move, expressing that it was tough to handle due to his strong friendship with Towns.
“KAT is like my brother, so that definitely hurt,” Edwards told Tim Capurso of SI. “But it’s a business. I’ve just got to roll with it. I’m ready to get to know Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo and figure things out quickly because we’re aiming to go even farther this season.”
Both Edwards and Towns were top draft picks for Minnesota, and together they helped the team reach the Western Conference Finals last season. While financial reasons likely influenced the trade, Edwards now steps into a leading role for the Timberwolves.
After averaging 25.9 points per game last season, he’s expected to shoulder even more of the offensive load.
