[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards recently spoke with the Today Show ahead of Team USA’s trip to Paris for the Olympics, claiming he could easily defeat any of his teammates in swimming. He specifically mentioned Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, and Tyrese Haliburton, offering reasons for his confidence.
“Freestyle. I’m fast too, though. Fastest swimmer on the team? For sure. They ain’t no swimmers. We got Joel ‘Big’ Embiid, you got AD and Bam, they ain’t swimming fast. Bron, he ain’t swimming fast. KD, Kawhi, and Tatum, they not swimming fast at all. My only challengers are Book—he might not know how to swim. Jrue, he might drown. And Haliburton, oh my god. If Haliburton beat me, then I just need to never touch the water again.”
Edwards provided both a sound and hilarious explanation for why he would easily defeat his teammates in a race. Perhaps Team USA can use the facilities in Paris to determine the fastest swimmer on the team. However, this may not happen, as the squad is focused on winning the gold medal at the tournament. Team USA aims to secure their fifth consecutive gold medal at the Olympics this year, assembling an incredible roster in response to their poor performance at last year’s FIBA World Cup, where they were defeated by Germany in the semi-finals and missed out on third place after losing to Canada.
