[Saba Sports News] Angel Reese shared significant news on social media Saturday, announcing that she will miss the rest of the season due to an undisclosed injury.
Reflecting on her rookie year, the Chicago Sky forward wrote, “What a year. I never imagined my last bucket would be a 3, but maybe that was God giving a preview of Year 2. I’ve proven I belong in this league, even when others doubted me. All I wanted was to make an impact, and I can confidently say I did that.” Reese expressed mixed emotions about her season-ending injury but also gratitude for what’s ahead, adding, “Although this is God’s timing, I’m ready for a physical and mental break. ‘God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.’”
Reese assured fans they’ll still see her as the team’s “biggest cheerleader” from the sidelines and hinted at her future return with, “Unrivaled league, see you soon!”
The 22-year-old rookie had an impressive season with 26 double-doubles and set a WNBA record with 15 consecutive double-doubles. She averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game for the Sky, who are currently fighting for a playoff spot with a 12-22 record.
