[Saba Sports News] The 2023 BWF World Tour Finals concluded with a
thrilling match that saw Korea’s “No. 1”, An Se-young, holding a
commanding 19-10 lead, only to be astonishingly overturned by Chinese Taipei’s
“No. 1”, Tai Tzu Ying. An Se-young recently gave an interview to the
media, reflecting on the game and assessing her performance in the 2023 season.
She stated that if she were to evaluate herself at the beginning of the season,
she could give herself a score of 80 to 90. However, due to injuries in the
second half of the year, she could only rate herself 50 points, resulting in an
overall score of 70 for the 2023 season. An Se-young explained that the
deduction of 30 points was due to the slow recovery from her injuries. She
mentioned that if she had won the women’s singles championship at the World
Tour Finals, she would have given herself a score of 95. Looking ahead to the
future, An Se-young is setting her sights on winning the women’s singles gold
medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. She hopes to achieve the 30 points she
missed out on this year in the upcoming season and aims to collect a total
score of 99. Some fans playfully remarked that An Se-young is a demanding
perfectionist. Notably, An Se-young had a remarkable 2023 season, claiming 10
championships, including the All England Championship, World Championships, and
Asian Games, which marked a season of great success for her.
