[Saba Sports] In the recently concluded F1 Austrian Grand Prix, stewards penalized Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg for an aggressive move on Fernando Alonso during the Austrian sprint race. The penalty imposed a 10-second time penalty and two penalty points on Hulkenberg. However, to everyone’s surprise, Aston Martin driver Alonso expressed his disbelief. He claimed that Hulkenberg’s move was not aggressive but an attempt to overtake. Alonso said, “I don’t agree with the penalty this time. Mistakes can be made, but there should be consequences like falling back or a post-race penalty if it’s the last lap. However, I don’t think this was a dangerous move.” This incident further highlights Alonso’s previous criticism of penalty decisions in the 2024 Formula One season, showcasing his outspoken nature when it comes to what he perceives as unfair punishments in racing incidents.
