[Saba Sports News] During the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan at Chepauk, Pakistan’s team director, Mickey Arthur, was visibly upset and frustrated with the Pakistani bowlers. Afghanistan, chasing a target of 283 runs, got off to an impressive start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran forming a partnership of over 100 runs for the opening wicket.
However, Pakistan’s bowling performance was subpar, especially by their fast bowlers who conceded a significant number of runs with the new ball. In the 11th over, leg-spinner Usama Mir was brought into the attack, but his first over included a loose delivery that Zadran effortlessly smashed for a boundary.
In response to this poor delivery, Mickey Arthur lost his temper and stormed off into the dressing room, clearly indicating his dissatisfaction with the execution of the bowling plans.
Afghanistan went on to cause a massive upset over Pakistan, securing their second significant win in the ODI World Cup 2023. Despite Pakistan’s solid start with the bat, Afghanistan’s spinners dominated their innings for over 38 overs, preventing them from reaching a 300-plus total.
Afghanistan’s openers, followed by Rahmat Shah and Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, secured a comfortable 8-wicket victory for their team, making history in the process.
