[Saba Sports News] Malaysian athletes have thousands of reasons to aim for gold medals at the Paris Olympics, and one of the biggest motivations is the generous winning bonus. Several companies have promised to provide huge bonuses to players who secure Malaysia’s first-ever gold medal. One of them is the co-founder and CEO of Senheng New Retail Bhd, who has decided to personally contribute RM1 million. This reward is reportedly for the players selected through the Emerging Samsung SS Badminton Scholarship Talent Program, namely the current Malaysian National Badminton Team’s gold medal hopefuls, Aaron Chia Teng Fong and Soh Wooi Yik. Stats shows that they won the bronze medal at the previous Tokyo Olympics. In addition to bonuses, Malaysian athletes who win Olympic medals will also receive cars from Chery Malaysia. The gold medalist will receive a seven-seat Chery multi-purpose vehicle Tiggo8Pro, the silver medalist will receive a Chery pure electric vehicle Omoda E5, and the bronze medalist will receive a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro. Furthermore, according to the National Sports Council’s incentive program (Shakam), athletes who win Olympic or Paralympic gold medals will receive a bonus of RM1 million. It is conservatively estimated that if Aaron Chia Teng Fong and Soh Wooi Yik win the badminton men’s doubles event, they will receive at least RM4 million in prize money.
