[Saba Sports News] There is a lot to see in the upcoming T20I series between the West Indies and England, starting on December 13 in Barbados.
With the T20 World Cup 2024 commencing in less than seven months, both the sides would want to find out their right combinations for the tournament scheduled in the West Indies and the USA.
Adding further context to the series, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to kickstart the stop clock trial. The five-month experiment will run from December 2023 to April 2024 for the full-member men’s ODIs and T20Is.
The objective behind this trial run is to see its impact in speeding up the play. If the bowling side fails to start the next over within 60 seconds of the completion of the last one for three times in an innings, five penalty runs will added to the batting team’s total.
The ICC General Manager Wasim Khan said, “We are continually looking at ways to speed up the pace of play across international cricket.
“The
stop clock trial in white ball international cricket follows the
introduction of a successful new playing condition in 2022, which
resulted in the fielding team only being allowed four fielders outside
of the inner circle if they were not in a position to bowl the first
ball of their final over in the stipulated time. The outcomes of the stop clock trial will be assessed at the end of the trial period.”
