In the 2023
Li Ning China Masters, one of the high-profile and good-looking players to
watch out for is Chiharu Shida, a talented women’s doubles player from Japan.
Known for her beauty and charm, Shida captures attention both on and off the
court. Alongside her partner Nami Matsuyama, Shida has achieved great success,
reaching the second spot in the world rankings. They have secured victories in
prestigious tournaments such as the Indian Open and Canadian Open this year.
Shida possesses exceptional skills and agility, employing tactical strategies
to score points. While her smash ability may still require improvement, her
overall performance instils fear in her competitors.
In the first
round of the women’s doubles event at the tournament, the fifth-seeded pair of
Chihiro Shida and Naomi Matsuyama will be facing the Thai combination of
Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai. Kititharakul and Prajongjai
are considered Thailand’s top players in women’s doubles and are known for
their beauty as well. Bazonja is described as petite and cute, while
Kititharakul is tall and carries a more reserved demeanour. Together, they form
a visually appealing duo on the court. Not only do Kititharakul and Prajongjai
possess good looks, but they also have extensive experience in competition.
Their strong teamwork and coordination make them a formidable women’s doubles
team. In fact, they secured a victory in the women’s doubles final of the
Badminton World Federation Malaysia Open on July 3, 2022, defeating the Chinese
combination of Zhang Shu Xian and Zheng Yu with a score of 2-1 to claim the
championship.
In the
previous Sudirman Cup quarter-finals, Chihiro Shida and Nami Matsuyama emerged
victorious with a 2-1 scoreline against the pairing of Kititharakul and Prajongjai.
This success was followed by another encounter in the round of 16 at the 2023
Singapore Badminton Open, where Shida and Matsuyama once again defeated
Kititharakul and Prajongjai with a score of 2-1. When comparing the competition
honours and records of both pairs, the combination of Shida and Matsuyama
clearly holds the upper hand. Their achievements and performance outshine those
of Kititharakul and Prajongjai. Having previously defeated their opponents,
Shida and Matsuyama enter this match with a strong sense of confidence and a
reason to feel invincible.
