In the PBA Governor’s Cup Wednesday, Meralco relied on strong performances from its bench players to stage a superb win at Smart Araneta Coliseum. Allen Durham and Chris Banchero led the way out of a sluggish start, while Anjo Caram and Alvin Pasaol were in full control of the game in the third quarter.
“We didn’t get off to a great start… But as the game went on, we showed more urgency in attack and defence, “said coach Luigi Trillo. Despite being short of Cliff Hodge, Raymond Almazan, Allein Maliksi and Aaron Black, the team trailed 23-8 at one point, but with Banchero and Durham back on their feet, Meralco gradually took control of the game and opened the scoring gap. Won its third straight game to improve to 4-1.
