Maguire said: “Obviously you can’t get away from the constant attention because your family and friends might see some of the coverage and they might see a lot more than me. It probably affects my family and friends more, especially when I’m playing.”

“Whether it’s playing for England or playing for my club, I’ve had a lot of good nights and a lot of good memories. Playing is about creating memories, not just for myself but for my family and friends. Obviously it was a bit difficult for them to enjoy the game last year, not like the previous eight or nine years. I’m sure that will change and I will keep working hard, keep fighting for my place and put things right.”
