Sports News] During the Chinese New Year holiday in Malaysia, Lee Zii Jia,
Malaysia’s prominent badminton player, shared an update on his social media
platforms. However, instead of posting vacation photos like others during the
holiday, he revealed that he was flying to South Korea to engage in intensive
training with the local national badminton team. This training is in
preparation for the upcoming Asian Badminton Team Championships. Over the past
year, Lee Zii Jia has faced challenges and fluctuations in his performance. He
experienced difficulties with the Malaysian Badminton Association and pursued
an independent career, but ultimately failed to achieve significant breakthroughs.
Previously, he was a formidable opponent for the Chinese men’s singles
badminton players, holding the second rank in the world. However, after going
solo, his performance declined, and he no longer posed a threat to the Chinese
players. In an effort to regain his form, Lee Zii Jia decided to undergo
special training in South Korea, aiming for a breakthrough in this year’s Paris
Olympics. Known for his aggressive offensive style and exceptional physical
fitness, Lee Zii Jia seeks to refine his skills at the net, where he has been
relatively rough. By addressing this aspect of his game, he hopes to capitalize
on his offensive strengths effectively. Thus, his training in South Korea aims
to bring about new advancements in his technique.
