[Saba Sports News] India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is not among the players selected for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, starting January 11 in Mohali.
While Kishan not too long ago was a permanent member in the squads of all three formats for India, his mysterious absence for the Afghanistan T20Is has raised the eyebrows.
The Indian Express has learned that Kishan not being in India’s contingent for the upcoming T20I series is a consequence of him asking for a break and then partying in Dubai.
As reported by the media outlet, Kishan had first asked for rest from the Australia T20Is and the white-ball series versus South Africa citing mental fatigue, which was denied by the team management.
He then requested for a break from the South Africa Test series following which the team management withdrew his name from the squad.
As he spent his break partying in Dubai, it did not go down well with the Indian team management, resulting in his exclusion from the Afghanistan T20Is, for which he made himself available, according to the report.
“He told the team management that he has mental fatigue because he had been on the road continuously and wanted to spend time with his family back home. Instead, he chose to travel to Dubai and was seen partying,” a source informed.
In Kishan’s place, India has called up Sanju Samson, who scored a hundred in the ODI series-decider versus the Proteas.
