India set a challenging target of 241 runs in the final, with notable performances by KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, both achieving half-centuries with scores of 66 and 54 respectively. India captain Rohit Sharma contributed a quick 47 runs to the total.
During the run-chase, Australia faced an early setback, losing three wickets at a score of 47 within the first powerplay. However, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne displayed exceptional resilience, successfully chasing down the target in 43 overs. Head’s remarkable innings saw him score 137 runs off 120 balls, while Labuschagne remained unbeaten with 58 runs off 110 deliveries.
In terms of the prize money distribution, the triumphant Australian team is set to claim USD 4 million, equivalent to slightly over INR 33 crore. Meanwhile, the runner-up, India, will be granted USD 2 million, translating to slightly more than INR 16.5 crore.
Additionally, both India and Australia will receive a bonus for their outstanding performances in the league stage, totalling $40,000 for each victorious match. India, boasting nine league victories, will secure a substantial total prize of $2.36 million. On the other hand, Australia, with seven league stage triumphs, will be honored with a noteworthy total amount of $4.28 million.
Recognizing the efforts of the semi-finalists, New Zealand, despite their loss to India, will receive a prize of $1 million, which includes $40,000 for each of their five league stage wins and $800,000 for being the semi-finalist. South Africa, who got beaten by Australia in the semis, will be awarded a prize of $1.08 million, comprising $40,000 for each of their seven league stage wins and $800,000 for being the losing semi-finalist.
