In the first half, Poland took a 1-0 lead with a header from a corner opportunity by Buksa. The Netherlands equalised at 1-1 later when Ake set up Akpo. The two teams were tied at half time.
Weghorst, a substitute, scored in the 83rd minute of the second half to give the Netherlands a 2-1 comeback win over Poland. Poland’s number one Lewandowski was sidelined by injury and was named among the substitutes but did not play. Zieliński was the captain and Szczęsny guarded the gate.
For the Netherlands, midfielder Frenkie de Jong is out of the tournament due to injury. Van Dijk led the defence, making his European Championship debut, forming a solid defence with de Vrij, Ake and Dumfries. The Orange were led up front by Depay, flanked by Gakpo and Xavi Simons.
The Polish team played tenacious in this match, but could not resist the Dutch attack, and finally lost regrettably.
