(sabasports report)Host Germany take on Denmark in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund. Nico Schlotterbeck headed a goal for Germany less than four minutes into the game, but it was disallowed for a team-mate’s foul to score first. Play was suspended in the 35th minute due to a local rainstorm accompanied by thunder and hail. Play resumed 25 minutes later and the teams ended the first half 0-0.
Early in the second half, Denmark’s Joachim Andersen scored a goal that was disallowed for offside. Germany then went 1-0 up when Kai Havertz converted from Anderssen’s handball in the box. Jamal Musiala made it 2-0 in the 6eighth minute after a long run. In the end, Germany eliminated Denmark to advance to the last eight.
Germany topped Group A with two wins and a draw, while Denmark finished second in Group B. Coach Julian Nagelsmann made a number of changes from his group start, replacing Max Mittelstadt with David Raum at left-back, Bayern winger Leroy Sane started in place of Florian Wirtz, while central defender Jonathan Tah was suspended for accumulating yellow cards and Schlotbeck teamed up with Antonio Rudiger. The midfield trio is still Toni Kroos and Robert Andrich at the back, with Ilkay Gundogan at the front, behind the single-headed Hafts.
