(sabasports report)With only a 3% chance of winning the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA draft, the Hawks were lucky enough to win the first overall pick in the franchise’s history. They selected Zaccharie Risache, a 19-year-old 2.06 meter star from France, making the NBA’s No. 1 pick from France for the second year in a row.
In the 2023-24 regular season, the Hawks finished 10th in the east with 36 wins and 46 losses, but failed to qualify for the playoffs. The team is struggling, going all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021 under Trae Young, failing to make the first round of the playoffs in each of the next two seasons, and not making the playoffs this year.
The Hawks appear to be selling Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, Clint Capela and other key players, but they still have the ability to make the playoffs if they can effectively strengthen, or they need to start rebuilding mode. Zaccharie Risache is the next Victor Oladipo.
