[Saba Sports News] Former Sacramento Kings general manager Divac recently revisited his decision to draft Luka Doncic in the 2018 NBA draft, refusing to admit that he made a mistake by not selecting him. Divac chose forward Marvin Bagley III over Doncic.

Six years later, Divac says, “I’m not ready to admit that not choosing Doncic was a mistake.” He explained that the team was betting on the rise of star guard Daron Fox as the centerpiece of the future.
“I already had Fox in that position, and I drafted him a year ago,” Divac said. “At the time, I believed Fox was a player who could be the star of the franchise for years to come.”
Although Divac admits that “time will tell if I’m wrong,” he remains optimistic about Fox’s future: “As things stand, it seems like I’m wrong, but I still believe Fox is going to have a great career.”
Now an All-NBA player, All-Star and Key Player of the Year award winner, Fox has become the undisputed leader and face of the Kings. Bagley fell short with the Kings, however, and joined the Detroit Pistons at the 2022 NBA trade deadline after a three-and-a-half season slump.
