(SabaSports) Anthony Edwards, the star player of the Minnesota Timberwolves, recently had some thoughts on the older generation of NBA players, particularly those who have played against Michael Jordan. While his views have been widely discussed, they have not generated much controversy or outrage. In fact, Edwards’ comments were neither overly strident nor infuriating the older generation of fans, especially those who see him as the next Jordan.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal’s Ryan Froshime, Mr. Edwards talked about his experience at the Olympics, his role as a father and everyday life. Edwards is candid when it comes to the different eras in the NBA. He noted that Jordan wasn’t the only player with skill. It was a time when physical play was a big part of the game, and not just the Detroit Pistons but other teams embraced the rugged style of play, even though it was often perceived as lacking in technical content. But there are players like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Hakeem Olajuwon, and others with the ability to score and/or organize, whose basketball skills definitely deserve to be called “technical” basketball.
