[Saba Sports News] According to reports from Indian media, the
Badminton Association of India (BAI) has reached an agreement to increase the
prize money in tournaments. The goal is to motivate players to achieve better
results and provide them with increased income, thus attracting more young
people to the sport of badminton. Previously, badminton players could receive
around 50% of sponsorship prize money, but with the new regulations, they may
potentially receive 80-90% of the prize money, with the remaining portion going
to the BAI for operational purposes.
In recent years, Indian badminton has shown significant improvement and
achieved commendable results in various international tournaments. This move by
the BAI could serve as an example for other badminton associations to follow,
as increasing athletes’ income can help them tap into their potential and
contribute to their countries’ success. It creates a win-win situation for all
parties involved.
