[Saba Sports News] The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday confirmed the unavailability of leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed for the upcoming Test match against Australia, starting on December 14 in Perth.
The PCB announced that Abrar has officially been ruled out of the first Test, naming off-spinner Sajid Khan as his replacement.
For the unversed, Abrar felt discomfort on his right leg on the third day of the warm-up game between Pakistan and the Prime Minister’s XI and he did not take further part in the fixture.
As revealed in the press release, Abrar is still very much a part of the Test series. He will undergo an intervention in Perth on Monday. This will be followed by the beginning of his rehabilitation process, which will decide his participation in the remaining two matches of the series, scheduled in Melbourne and Sydney.
Sajid, who has been called in as a back-up to Abrar, has taken 22 wickets in seven Tests so far. He last played a Test match in 2022.
