[Saba Sports News] Austin Rivers recounted a memorable encounter with Arnold Schwarzenegger reminiscent of “Kindergarten Cop” on ESPN Radio’s “Unsportsmanlike” show, hosted by Evan Cohen, Chris Canty, and Michelle Smallmon.
The former NBA player shared his unique babysitting stories, including an occasion when Schwarzenegger looked after him during an event. Rivers explained that his parents were busy at the event and Schwarzenegger, already there with children, was asked to briefly supervise him.
Emphasizing that Schwarzenegger wasn’t a regular babysitter but just watched him at that event, Rivers likened the experience to Schwarzenegger’s role as a makeshift teacher in the 1990 film “Kindergarten Cop.”
Austin, born in 1992, is the son of Doc Rivers, an NBA player from 1983 to 1996 and a coach for four NBA teams. This connection meant Austin was often in the care of well-known individuals, including Schwarzenegger, who at the time was a prominent movie star and not yet the Governor of California. Currently, both Doc and Austin Rivers are involved in broadcasting and television.
