[Saba Sports News] On Thursday, the Sacramento Kings enhanced their team with experienced talent, securing a one-year contract with small forward Juan Toscano-Anderson, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Toscano-Anderson, a 30-year-old player from Mexico, previously played for the Mexico City Capitanes in the NBA G League.
Reacting promptly to Wojnarowski’s announcement, Toscano-Anderson embraced the Kings’ spirit, tweeting their victory slogan, “Light the Beam then!” This phrase symbolizes the Kings’ celebration of their wins.
Toscano-Anderson is known for his three-year tenure with the Golden State Warriors (2019-2022), where he averaged 4.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 17.1 minutes per game. He also had short spells with the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz last season.
Kings’ head coach Mike Brown, familiar with Toscano-Anderson from their time at the Warriors, had shown interest in bringing him to the Kings’ October training camp. Before the season’s start, there were talks of Toscano-Anderson possibly returning to the Warriors.
Marc J. Spears of ESPN noted that Brown’s interest in Toscano-Anderson, whom he knew from the Warriors, was significant. Spears described him as a solid veteran presence, likening his potential impact in the Kings’ locker room to that of Garrett Temple.
Despite being a relatively shorter forward at 6’6″, Toscano-Anderson’s extensive wingspan and adaptability make him a valuable asset for the Kings, especially as a versatile player off the bench. In his 11 games with the Capitanes in the G League, he averaged impressive stats: 19.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
