Granada, as a newly promoted team, have had a disappointing
overall performance this season. Despite a recent coaching change, their
condition has not improved significantly. In their last league match, Granada
suffered a 0-1 defeat away to Celta Vigo, extending their winless streak to 14
consecutive league rounds. The new coach, Alexander Medina, is 45 years old and
known for his attack-oriented approach. During regular training sessions, he
emphasizes compact and direct play, as well as aggression both with and without
the ball. It’s worth noting that Granada’s home performance has been
comparatively better than their away performances. In their last five home
games, they have recorded four draws and one loss. Although they haven’t
secured a victory, they managed to draw against strong teams such as Real
Betis, Barcelona, and Athletic Bilbao. This demonstrates that Granada possess a
strong home momentum that should not be underestimated.
In the last round of the league, Sevilla suffered
a 0-3 defeat at home to Getafe, extending their winless streak to 10 games in
the league. Following the match, Sevilla coach Diego Alonso was sacked due to
the poor performance. Despite their recent participation in the Champions
League group stage, Sevilla now find themselves on the brink of the relegation
zone. During Diego Alonso’s two-month tenure as coach, Sevilla failed to secure
a victory in the league, which played a significant role in his dismissal.
Additionally, Sevilla have struggled in away matches, managing only three draws
and four losses in seven away games so far this season. Their away performance
has been notably weak.
Despite Sevilla’s higher overall strength and
reputation compared to Granada, their recent form are not any better than
Granada. It is clear that Granada’s home advantage and strong performances
against tough teams make them a challenging opponent for Sevilla.
