[Saba Sports News] American rock band Six and Out, known for their ties to cricket, is set for a stage comeback, and Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist couldn’t resist poking fun at his former teammate, Brett Lee. The band, active in the 1990s and early 2000s, includes members like Richard Chee Quee, Brad McNamara, Gavin Robertson, Brett Lee, and his brother Shane. They’re scheduled for a special show in Melbourne on the night of December 28.
This reunion was sparked by a request from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, as his partner Jodie Haydon was a fan of Six and Out during their heyday. Inspired by this, the band decided to perform three shows this summer, starting with The Espy in St Kilda on December 28, followed by shows at Paddington RSL in Sydney on January 3 and The Gov in Adelaide on January 19 next year.
Gilchrist shared a humorous anecdote on Fox Cricket, recalling Lee’s love for music and his extensive CD collection, which was once stolen from his car. “Brett Lee had a great back catalogue of music in his car, and when it got broken into, every CD was stolen except for the Six and Out CD!” Gilchrist joked.
The band’s name, Six and Out, is derived from a backyard cricket rule where hitting a six that loses the ball results in the batter’s dismissal. Among their hits is “Can’t Bowl, Can’t Throw,” a song referencing a notorious cricket incident during the 1999 Australia-Pakistan Test in Hobart, involving Shane Warne, Scott Muller, and Cameraman Joe.
