[Saba Sports News] According to a report from Italy’s Motorsport.com,
Ferrari has completed the first test of its 2026 Formula 1 engine. However, it
should be noted that this is not the final version of Ferrari’s engine for
2026. The FIA (International Automobile Federation) is planning to reform the
Formula 1 racing cars in 2026 in order to change the dominance of the Red Bull
Racing team. The new regulations for 2026 will involve making the cars smaller
and lighter, adopting a different power distribution for the new power unit,
eliminating the use of the heat recovery system (MGU-H), and increasing the
power of the hybrid component to 50%. This means that the traditional internal
combustion part of the engine will be significantly reduced, and there will be
limitations on materials and solutions for the current six-cylinder engine.
Ferrari is reportedly preparing for the 2026 season two years in advance,
hoping to make a strong comeback under the new regulations. With manufacturers
like Honda, Ford, and Audi also joining the competition, the power unit will
play a crucial role in determining the championship in 2026. However, it is
mentioned that Audi’s research and development process is slightly behind other
manufacturers at the moment. It is important to note that while the engine is a
significant factor, winning the championship involves many other factors as
well.
