[Saba Sports News] Four rabbis at a Utah Jazz-Dallas Mavericks game claim they were instructed to hide their pro-Jewish signs following comments from player Kyrie Irving. Rabbi Avremi Zippel from Salt Lake City shared his account, stating Irving noticed their signs and suggested they were inappropriate for the game.
Following this, Jazz officials verified their tickets and directed them to remove the signs. The Jazz later explained that the signs breached their conduct code, which prohibits signs that distract or interact with players. Zippel believes this was an excuse to protect Irving.
The incident relates to Irving’s 2022 controversy while with the Brooklyn Nets, where he was suspended for sharing an antisemitic video. Though he apologized, his tenure with the Nets ended, leading to his transfer to the Mavericks.
