[Saba Sports News] The Singapore badminton team is actively training
in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Malaysia Badminton Open. Ahead of the
tournament, representatives from the Singapore men’s and women’s teams sat down
for interviews with the media to discuss their goals for the Paris Olympics.
Kean Yew Loh, currently ranked 10th in the world in men’s singles, expressed
his personal aspiration of becoming the first Singaporean to win a badminton
medal at the Olympics. Over the past two years, Kean Yew Loh has experienced
both triumphs and setbacks, which have contributed to his growth and maturity.
In the 2022 season, he achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 3, securing
his spot as the first Singaporean male player to qualify for the BWF World Tour
Finals. However, his performance faced challenges in the 2023 season, resulting
in a decline in competitiveness. Among the women’s singles representatives, Yeo
Jia Min, currently ranked 22nd in the world, shared her game plan aimed at
breaking into the top 14 of the women’s world rankings and striving to become a
seeded player in the women’s singles category at the Paris Olympics.
