Malaysian Open, Viktor Axelsen, the world’s number one men’s singles badminton
player, suffered a surprising defeat to Chinese player Shi Yuqi and was
eliminated from the tournament. This loss prevented him from securing his third
consecutive championship in the event. Unfortunately, Axelsen also sustained an
injury during the game, adding to his misfortune. In a post-match interview
with the media, Axelsen acknowledged his poor performance in the game but
expressed that he would not be disheartened by it. Instead, he emphasized his
determination to make a strong comeback and prepare for the upcoming Paris
Olympics. Axelsen stated that with a few more months of regular and systematic
training without any hindrances, he would become a formidable force at the
Paris Olympics. The 2024 Paris Olympics is an international sporting event
hosted by France, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, with some
events commencing on July 24.
