Sports News] According to British media reports, Andre Onana had initially
agreed to play for Manchester United in their Premier League match against
Tottenham Hotspur before joining the Cameroon national team for the African Cup
of Nations. However, his plans were disrupted due to flight delays, causing him
to miss the rendezvous with the Cameroon team. As a result, Onana was not
selected for Cameroon’s first game in the African Cup of Nations. Instead, the
28-year-old Fabrice Ondoa, who happens to be Onana’s cousin, was chosen as the
goalkeeper for the match against Guinea, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Ondoa, like
Onana, had a youth career at Barcelona before playing for various teams in
Spain. Currently, Ondoa plays for Nimes Olympique, though he is not the club’s
first-choice goalkeeper. It remains to be seen if Onana will represent Cameroon
in the upcoming games of the tournament.
