Sports News] According to the latest news from the Senegalese Football
Association, Cheikhou Kouyate, a player in the national team, has withdrawn
from the ongoing African Cup of Nations. The reason for his withdrawal is the
unfortunate death of his father. Kouyate decided to return to Senegal to attend
his father’s tribute, leading to his absence from the competition. Kouyate’s
withdrawal does not diminish the strength of the Senegalese national team. He
is considered one of the key players for Senegal and currently plays for the
Premier League team Nottingham Forest. In the first round of the African Cup of
Nations, the 34-year-old midfielder was on the bench as Senegal secured a 3-0
victory over Gambia. Kouyate played a vital role in Senegal’s victory in the
2022 African Cup of Nations, including his participation in the team’s final
triumph against Egypt. In his club performances, Kouyate has played 12 games,
scoring one goal, and has maintained a good level of performance.
