[Saba Sports News] With Russell Westbrook and DeAndre Jordan already on board, another former Laker might join the Denver Nuggets.
Veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein mentioned Monday that the Nuggets are “a team to watch” for veteran guard Lonnie Walker IV.
Walker recently signed with EuroLeague’s Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania but has an NBA opt-out until mid-February.
Walker, a 25-year-old former first-round pick, is considered one of the best NBA free agents available.
Last season, he averaged 9.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in under 18 minutes per game for the Brooklyn Nets and shined with the Lakers in 2022-23, delivering clutch playoff performances, including against the Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.
The 3-3 Nuggets have struggled to replace Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s wing production after his free agency move to Orlando.
Christian Braun has filled the starting role, but their bench wings, Julian Strawther and Peyton Watson, haven’t been consistent. Walker could provide the extra depth Denver needs on the wing.
