[Saba Sports News] The Orlando Magic are rewarding one of their standout players with a significant contract extension.
Jalen Suggs has agreed to a 5-year, $151 million extension with the Magic, averaging $30.1 million per year. The No. 5 overall pick from the 2021 draft has shown marked improvement, posting 12.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game last season. His shooting percentages also hit career highs, with 47.1% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range.
Suggs’ defensive efforts earned him 8th in Most Improved Player voting, 10th in Defensive Player of the Year voting, and a spot on the All-Defense second team.
With this extension, the Magic have Suggs, Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr., and Jonathan Isaac under contract through 2027-28. The team’s next focus will be securing Paolo Banchero for the long term.
The Magic are on the rise, coming off a 47-35 season—their best since 2010-11—and are looking to build on last year’s first-round playoff exit.
