[Saba Sports News] Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green has agreed to a rookie extension that includes a groundbreaking clause, making NBA history.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Green is signing a three-year, $106 million extension with the Rockets. The deal includes a player option for the third year, making Green the first player to negotiate a two-plus-one structure in a rookie extension.
This gives him the flexibility to potentially boost his earnings sooner in his career, a strategy typically used by veteran players.
Last season, Green averaged 19.6 points per game, contributing to the Rockets’ 19-game improvement. Though his name surfaced in trade talks, Green remains a key part of the franchise’s future as they look to continue building.
