[Saba Sports News] The Denver Nuggets are entering the 2024-25 season with a chip on their shoulder after a disappointing second-round exit against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. However, they’re retaining key pieces for another title push, including veteran forward Aaron Gordon.
Gordon’s future with the team was solidified with a four-year, $133 million contract extension, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal also includes a player option for 2028-29 and a trade kicker.
Gordon joined the Nuggets in 2020-21 after spending over six seasons with the Orlando Magic. In his first full season with Denver, he posted averages of 15.0 points and 5.9 rebounds, his best scoring since 2018-19. He continued to shine in 2022-23, averaging 16.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, and matching his career-high in blocks with 0.8 per game, playing a key role in Denver’s 2023 NBA Finals run.
In the 2023-24 season, Gordon averaged 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds, setting the stage to help the Nuggets bounce back stronger in the upcoming season.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst previously noted that while Gordon was eligible for a higher $150 million extension, the team successfully negotiated a more favorable deal. With Nikola Jokic in MVP form and Gordon continuing to provide strong support, the Nuggets are determined to go further in the 2024-25 playoffs.
