[Saba Sports News] As the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technical Officer of Sauber F1 Team, Mattia Binotto’s task is to build Audi’s future F1 team into a championship-winning team over 6 to 7 years. However, based on Binotto’s performance as Ferrari’s team principal, it seems unlikely that Audi will become a competitive team under his leadership. Despite external skepticism, Binotto himself is full of confidence about the future. Recently, in an exclusive interview with Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport, he discussed his confidence in Audi and the team’s prospects. Additionally, Binotto commented on the current status and future of several teams, including his former team Ferrari. Binotto stated that if he were still managing Ferrari, he would not sign Lewis Hamilton. His remarks about not valuing the seven-time F1 champion have sparked considerable controversy. Some fans believe that Binotto’s comments stem from Ferrari’s decision two seasons ago to cultivate Charles Leclerc as their number one driver and invest all resources in him. If Leclerc can compete for the world championship for Ferrari, Hamilton’s role would be to support him as a secondary driver. It remains uncertain whether Hamilton will adapt to being a number two driver when he joins Ferrari next season and willingly play a supporting role for Leclerc.
