[Saba Sports News] Recently, Genoa and Sampdoria issued a joint statement announcing their intention to jointly acquire the Luigi Ferraris Stadium, which they currently share. It is worth noting that Genoa and Sampdoria have been sharing the use of Luigi Ferraris Stadium since the 1940s; it is also the oldest professional football stadium still in use in Italy. However, the ownership belongs to the Genoa city government, and both clubs only have usage rights. Nevertheless, Genoa and Sampdoria have now released a joint statement informing fans that they are preparing to make an offer to buy the stadium from the local government, with both teams holding 50% of the shares. This would provide both clubs with longer-term security and allow them to utilize the stadium for other commercial activities to increase revenue. Notably, the two teams are set to meet in the second round of the Coppa Italia, marking their first clash in nearly two years. It remains to be seen how fans of both clubs feel about the stadium acquisition.
