[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, due to severe flooding at Wimbledon FC’s home ground, the club announced that it would be unable to host home matches for at least 19 days. Wimbledon was scheduled to face Newcastle at home in the third round of the League Cup, but heavy rain has ruined their pitch, creating a sinkhole in one corner. The area behind the stands where fans often gather has also been completely submerged. After receiving approval to change venues, Wimbledon’s League Cup match against Newcastle will take place at St James’ Park, but Saturday’s home match against Accrington is at risk of being postponed. The club confirmed that they are working hard to find a solution—despite it being impossible to play at their own stadium. If the match is canceled, Wimbledon will need to rearrange two matches at Plough Lane, as they are about to face Crewe, with their next home match scheduled for October 12 against Carlisle United. This is undoubtedly a significant blow for Wimbledon.
