[Saba Sports News] Dutch driver Max Verstappen is known for his straightforwardness, but this personality often leads to trouble. During last week’s F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Verstappen referred to his Red Bull car as “this car is FUCK,” which caught the attention of race officials. This week, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated in an interview that the FIA will closely monitor drivers’ language during radio communications since such language can be broadcast worldwide and some profanity may have negative impacts. Consequently, upon arriving in Singapore, the FIA decided to penalize Verstappen by requiring him to engage in community service activities. In response to his behavior, Verstappen humorously explained that English is not his first language and he merely picked up a couple of “catchphrases” from others. The race officials acknowledged that this might be true but insisted that public figures must learn to be cautious when speaking in public and urged Verstappen to change his habit of using “catchphrases.”
