[Saba Sports News] Adrian Wojnarowski is walking away from a significant sum at ESPN to pursue a new career path.
The longtime NBA reporter shocked the sports world by announcing his retirement from ESPN and the news industry. Wojnarowski is now set to become the general manager of a prominent college basketball program.
According to Andrew Marchand of *The Athletic*, Wojnarowski is leaving behind roughly $20 million, as he had three years remaining on his ESPN contract, earning about $7 million per year.
Wojnarowski, 55, spent over three decades as a sportswriter and reporter, first gaining national attention with Yahoo! Sports before joining ESPN in 2017. Known for his “Woj bombs,” he was considered the top NBA newsbreaker.
Though $20 million is a substantial amount to forgo, Wojnarowski is expected to make up some of it with his new role in college basketball. There were also reports suggesting he had a compelling reason for his sudden retirement.
