[Saba Sports News] Michael Jordan has long been known for his love of gambling, and sometimes that means big losses. For years, there’s been a rumor that Jordan once lost $1 million in a dice game in Chicago.
Rapper G Herbo confirmed the story on the “What Could Go Wrong” podcast, saying, “On bro, that’s an urban legend in my hood.”
Herbo, who’s from Chicago, claimed he knows who Jordan lost to but kept the person’s identity a secret. “It’s a real street n**** from my hood, so I ain’t even gonna disclose his name,” he said. “This was back in the ’90s. And it was believable cuz this n**** had real money… People from my hood gonna know exactly who I’m talking about.”
Herbo also suggested Jordan hasn’t fully paid the debt, adding, “I feel like Jordan only gave him probably about 4, 5, 600. He probably owe him 400,000 to this day… I know it ain’t no lie.”
Herbo further shared that Jordan is still active in the gambling scene. “I still hear stories about Mike still being in the trenches, gambling,” he said. “Like still in the gambling houses.”
Despite the alleged million-dollar loss, Jordan, who’s worth $3.2 billion, didn’t slow down his gambling habits. He once told Connie Chung in a 1993 interview that he had a “competition problem” rather than a gambling problem and could stop at any time—though it seems he hasn’t stopped even at 61.
